A majority of the people involved in this survey favor poor people. This can be proved by the data's high mean and median. The min for the data was 0.00, while the max was 100.00, which shows that although there is a wide range of data, the majority of the responses occur on the higher end.

This is another example of a majority of surveyed individuals favoring the variable of topic, in this case black people. The minimum favorability was 0.00, while the max was 100.00. However, the mean of the data is 72.04, showing that the data is left-skewed, which means that the majority of people's responses are on the higher end of the scale.

Welfare ppl boxplot.png
Welfare ppl histogram.png
Of the three variables that I selected, welfareppl is the most balanced of the group. From looking at the boxplot and histogram, there appears to be no clear distinction as to whether or not individuals from the survey favor or dislike people on welfare. The min of this data set was 0.00 and the max was 100.00, while the median was 50.00, showing that people on welfare are favored as much as they are disliked.

Scatterplot of welfareppl and blacks:
Welfare ppl and blacks scatterplot.png
This scatterplot compares welfareppl and blacks. This scatterplot illustrates the positivecorrelation between people on welfare and blacks. This is due to the two variables both being on the higher end of the values on this table. Feelings toward black people and people on welfare are very similar and mostly positive.

It's not so much that ratings of both group are mostly positive necessarily, but that there is a positive association between these two variables. In other words, people with high ratings of people on welfare tend to also have high ratings of black people, and people with low ratings of people on welfare tend to have low feelings toward black people.

Correlation between welfareppl and blacks:
cor(nes$welfareppl, nes$blacks, use="complete.obs")
[1] 0.4469251
The correlation between welfare ppl and black is approximately 0.45, whch means that the two variables are related, but not on a very strong level. This is due to the opinions of the individuals involved in the surveys regarding the two groups.

This is interesting because most people on welfare are white!

R Script that I used:
1. nes<-read.csv("anes2008.csv")
2. summary(nes$poorppl)
3. boxplot(nes$poorppl)
4. hist(nes$poorppl)
5. summary(nes$blacks)
6. boxplot(nes$blacks)
7. hist(nes$blacks)
8.summary(nes$welfareppl)
9. boxplot(nes$welfareppl)
10. hist(nes$welfareppl)
11. install.packages("car")
12. library(car)
13. scatterplot(nes$welfareppl, nes$blacks)
14. cor(nes$welfareppl, nes$blacks, use="complete.obs")

Great job!
